Day 1
Arrive in Arusha Kilimanjaro Airport
We'll meet for an introductory briefing upon your arrival in Arusha before transferring to the Oasis Lodge for the evening. Dinner included.
Day 2
Start of Safari: After breakfast you’ll drive across the floor of the Great Rift Valley to Lake Manyara National Park. This beautiful park with it’s lush vegetation and tropical forests of giant fig and mahogany trees, takes its name from the Maasai word for "euphorbia tirucalli", a bush which is used to make a thorny hedge to protect their cattle. Elephant, giraffe, buffalo, zebra and a variety of antelope inhabit the park as well as a variety of monkeys and a large population of hippo’s. If you are lucky you may see the Manyara lions, well known for their tree climbing habits, lazily resting on the branches of an "Acacia tortilis" tree. The birdlife is also abundant, with flamingoes, pelicans, hornbills and plenty of forest species.
In the late afternoon we will head to Ngorongoro, where we overnight in a campsite. All meals included.

Day 3-4
After breakfast a wonderful full day game drive (with a picnic lunch) inside the Ngorongoro Crater. As very few animals migrate in and out of the crater with its 2000 ft. high walls, you can expect to see lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, hippos, flamingos, jackals, rhinos, antelopes, many birds and other species. Your Driver/Guide will be in contact with other safari drivers and will amaze you with his skill at locating the hidden animals.
Overnight in Campsite in Ngorongoro. All meals included.

Day 5
After breakfast you start on your way to Serengeti National Park. A picnic lunch will be provided. On the way you will stop at the Olduvai Gorge where anthropologists Louis and Mary Leakey made many significant discoveries, contributing to the theory that human life originated in Africa. After stopping for your picnic lunch on a kopje (rock outcropping) in Serengeti you will continue further into the park and go on a game drive.
Overnight in campsite in the Serengeti. All meals included.

Day 6
A full day of game drives around Serengeti. Depending on the time of year and the migration of the herds you can expect to see wildebeest, lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, monkeys, baboons, hippos, rhinos, antelopes and many birds and other species. As in Ngorongoro your Driver/Guide will be in contact with other safari drivers and will amaze you with his skill at locating the hidden animals.
Overnight in campsite in the Serengeti. All meals included.

Day 7
Game-drive to Lake Victoria and arrive at Speke Bay Lodge for lunch on the verandah overlooking the Bay. In the afternoon drive into the nearby hills to take a look at rural Africa, passing through the small villages of the Sakuma people, who grow cotton, ground nuts, sorghum and cassava as well as keeping livestock. Life carries on simply as it has done for centuries, but with a few poignant reminders of the 20th Century! See the local school and take a stroll to the top of a small kopje.
Overnight at a campsite. All meals included.

Day 8
Early morning traditional fishing canoe trip to a fishing village. Local fishermen will paddle the canoes and, on the way, the scene is typical of the lakeshore with women toiling in the fields and men fishing. The paddlers sing as they work taking one back in time as they sing traditional songs of home, of cattle and of life. In the distance can be seen the white lateen sails of fishing boats or dhows, returning from a night of fishing far out on the Lake. Prolific and undisturbed birdlife can be found on the beach including migrant waders, Egrets from Europe and (amongst the reeds) flashes of brightly coloured Kingfishers; chattering golden and yellow weavers of many kinds complete the scene. At the village, witness fishing boats bringing in their catches and fierce bargaining by traders before strolling around this pretty, colourful village to see the busy stalls catering for every need amongst the fish drying in the sun.
Overnight at a campsite. All meals included.

Day 9-10
After breakfast proceed to Lake Eyasi for the Bushmen tour, a game walk guided by bushmen. The small people of this indigenous tribe are probably the last living in true harmony with nature and have a wealth of Fauna and Flora knowledge to share with us (both nights are spent at the bush Camp). All meals included.

Day 11-12
After breakfast we depart for Tarangire, Tanzania's third largest national park and sanctuary for an unusually large elephant population. Majestic baobab trees are an interesting feature of the park, dwarfing the animals that feed beneath them. Animals concentrate along the Tarangire River, which provides the only permanent water supply in the area. There is a great diversity of wildlife including lion, leopard, cheetah and up to six thousand elephant. A bush walk and a cultural visit with the semi-nomadic tribes are also included.
Overnight two nights at a campsite. All meals included.

Day 13
One final morning game drive before leaving. In the afternoon we will reach Arusha, were we overnight. Breakfast and Dinner.

Day 14
Early departure to your flight to Zanzibar. After arrival we will do the Spice Tour. We have developed a special Spice Tour with in depth information not only about spices, but also organically grown herbs and a detailed description about their traditional uses in medicine cosmetics and cooking. Overnight in Sau Inn Hotel or Chwaka Bay Hotel, East Coast, your home for the next six days. Breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Day 15-20
Relax and enjoy the endless beaches of Zanzibar while staying in the Sau Inn Hotel or Chwaka Bay Hotel. There is a wide range of water sport activities you can do, like snorkeling, scuba diving, boat trips and more. Or you can join one of our day tours on Zanzibar, like the Dolphin tour, City Tour, ... and more (not in the price included). Breakfast and dinner.

NGORONGORO CRATER, SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK AND LAKE MANYARA GENERAL INFORMATION:

SERENGETI: The name 'Serengeti' comes from the Maasai language and appropriately means an 'endless plains'. The National Park is as big as Northern Ireland, but its ecosystem, which includes the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, the Maswa Game Reserve and the Maasai Mara Game reserve (in Kenya). It lies between the shores of Lake Victoria in the west, Lake Eyasi in the south, and the Great Rift Valley to the east. As such, it offers the most complex and least disturbed ecosystem on earth. A unique combination of diverse habitats enables it to support more than 30 species of large herbivores and nearly 500 species of birds. Its landscape, originally formed by volcanic activity, has been sculpted by the concerted action of wind, rain and sun. It now varies from open grass plains in the south, savanna with scattered acacia trees in the center, hilly, wooded grassland in the north, to extensive woodland and black clay plains to the west. Small rivers, lakes and swamps are scattered throughout. Rising in the southeast are the great volcanic massifs and craters of the Ngorongoro Highlands. The Serengeti plains are host to a dramatic annual migration of hundreds of thousands of wildebeest and numerous other species of animals indigenous to the area.

NGORONGORO CRATER: Ngorongoro is quite unique as its physical protection from man natural beauty ranks it among the most pristine wildernesses on earth. It is regarded as a natural wonder of the world and has been declared a World Heritage Site. It is the largest intact crater in the world, being 610 meters deep, 16 kilometers across and covering an area of 540 square kilometers. On the crater floor, grassland blends into swamps, lakes, rivers, woodland and mountains – all a haven for wildlife, including the greatest predator population in Africa. The volcanic crater is jam-packed with wildlife, including all the big game. Its pride and joy, however, is that it remains the last great wild refuge for black rhino.

MANYARA: The cleavage, known as the Great Rift Valley, can be identified from space as the most distinctive feature of the continent. The seam of this cleavage has developed a series of fascinating and beautiful lakes. Manyara is a fantastic big game park.

The variety of habitats parallels its exceptional scenery. Every imaginable East African animal is found here in abundance. There are great herds of buffalo, zebra, wildebeest and several varieties of gazelle. Mahogany, sausage tree and croton are alive with blue monkeys and vervet monkeys. Some of the most amazingly large pods of hippos congregate at the rivers emerging into the lake, and the birdlife is plentiful. Lake Manyara is also known for its “tree-climbing” lions.
