Selous is the largest game reserve in Africa, vast remote and wild, this is a dramatic and exciting contrast to other parks in Tanzania in almost every way. The Selous Game Reserve is one of Tanzania's lesser known destinations. This is in stark contrast to it's size (around 50,000 square km - the largest game reserve on the continent) and it's intriguing diversity.
Selous is a huge game reserve, southeastern Tanzania. It is named after Frederick Selous, a naturalist, explorer, and soldier. It covers an area of more than 17,000 square miles (44,000 square km) and bestrides a complex of rivers including the Kilombero, Ruaha, and Rufiji. Its vegetation is woodland, with patches of dense hardwood forest and some of the finest virgin bush left in Africa.
